The dog shown inspired a famous character and was behind the name of an even more famous character. Identify the dog and the characters.

Answer: The picture shows George Lucas with his Alaskan Malamute named Indiana. Its name inspired the name of Indiana Jones. Chewbacca, the furry navigator of the Millennium Falcon was inspired by Indiana's habit of sitting in the passenger seat while Lucas drives. Rajeev, Akshay, Matti Tapaninen, Kaushik, Ramki and Paragbm got it. Well done.

its an alaskan malmute. its looks inspired chewbacca. its name is indiana which inspired indiana jones.

George Lucas and his Alaskan Malamute that was the inspiration for the sounds one hears from Chewbacca on Star Wars. The dogs name is Indiana and Indiana Jones was named after Lucas´ dog.

Indiana was an Alaskan malamute dog owned by George Lucas in the 1970s. Indiana was the inspiration for the character of Chewbacca,[1] and later became the source of Indiana Jones' name.
