It is a 'Pogo' cartoon and the famous comment "We Have Met the Enemy and He is us" is missing in it. The second event is the Battle of Lake Erie where Commandant Oliver Perry after defeating the British and taking control of Lake Erie had written to the headquarters - 'We have met the enemy and they are ours'.
