Question -131

Identify and connect.

Answer: The connect is the Westinghouse time capsules which were buried beneath the Flushing Meadows in 1939 and 1964 on the occasion of New York's world fairs. The capsules are to be opened in 6939 AD and are supposed to give the future an idea of our current civilization. The unisphere shown in the third visual is a symbol of the 1965 World fair. Iam, Manix, Raghu, Anshul and Swapnaa got it. Well done.

The two time capsules made by the Westinghouse Co., for the 1939 and 1964 NYC World Fairs, are buried at Flushing Meadows.

Interesting note: The Unisphere at Flushing Meadows, the giant globe shown in the third visual... has three orbit rings of stainless steel encircling it at various angles. These rings are supposed to represent the orbits of Yuri Gagarin (first man in space), John Glenn (first American in space) and of Telstar, the first active communications satellite.

#1: Westinghouse Time capsule 1 getting buried. It was one of the exhibits at the New York's World Fair in 1939.
#2: Capsule being stuffed with a variety of objects representing life in the US in the 19th century.
#3: The original Perisphere that was the theme center for the fair was scrapped for making arms for WW-II. :( So in the 1964/65 NYWF, they built this Globitron a.k.a Unisphere on the old foundation.

Appaada... I kept looking for missiles and satellites... damn it, this one was wicked, but good! :)
