Question - 45

Connect the visuals.

Update: I will be on the road for a couple of days. New posts in this time will depend on enthu level and availability of high speed internet. Guaranteed updates shall resume on Monday September 1st.

Answer: The flying Dutchman. The painting is that of the ghost ship, the baseball card is that of Honus Wagner of the Pittsburgh pirates whose nickname it was (incidentally, the card shown is among the rarest of baseball cards and extant copies are easily worth millions of dollars), the sketch is that of a roller coaster of the same name and finally Dennis Bergkamp is called the non-flying Dutchman due to his fear of flying. Arvind, Mihir+Shashank, Divya, Hirak, Raghu and an anon got it. Well done. Starting tonight, there will be updates as usual every night.

Connect - Flying/Non-flying Dutchmen :)
The ship is the pirate ship - The Flying Dutchman.
The Pittsburgh Pirates player is Honus Wagner, nicknamed the Flying Dutchman.
Then, its Dennis Bergkamp, whose fear of flying led to his being called the Non-Flying Dutchman.
And that engineering drawing thingy is the Flying Dutchman roller coaster ride.

The painting is Albert Pinkham Ryder's version of the Ghost Ship, "The Flying Dutchman". The baseball player next to it is the legendary Honus Wagner, of the Pittsburgh pirates, who was nicknamed "The flying dutchman". The patent drawing is of the loading system of a Vekoma "Flying Dutchman" roller coaster. The red arrow indicates the direction of travel upon leaving the loading area. The last picture (my key to solving the puzzle) is the legendary dutch footballer, Dennis Bergkamp, nicknamed the "Non-flying Dutchman" for his fear of flying.
Problem solvers: Mihir and Shashank

Connection is flight.

Flight of the Icarus on the left

one of the Wright brothers bottom middle

top is a sketch for an interplanetary ladder devised by Arthur C Clarke

bottom right is Dennis Bergkamp who is afraid of flying following his "near" death experience had the Dutch team decided to fly back from the US as originally scheduled after the '94 world cup.

The Flying Dutchman by Ryder(the ghost ship that can never come home); Pittsburg Pirates' Baseball shortstop Honus Wagner (nicknamed flying dutchman for his speed); Dutch ex-footballer Dennis Bergkamp, called the non-flying dutchman due to his fear of flying; Vekoma's flying dutchman roller coaster.

Flying Dutchman - ghost ship, ?, ?, Denis Bergkamp.

However, Bergkamp is the "non-flying dutchman".
